Anyone for Soccer??

Soccer season has come to an end, maybe for good. Part of me is a little sad, the other part a bit relieved. I can't say that my kids are natural soccer players and so this season has been a bit painful for all of us, especially Kelsey. She begged and begged me to put her in soccer this year and so like a good mother I did. The first game she started out pretty strong, running with the pack after the little ball. However within a few minutes she decided that she was done and proceeded to pick grass and focus on basically everything but the actual soccer game. By the next week, she was just mad that she was out there. She refused to run with the pack and she could care less that there was a game going on. She just stood in the middle of the field looking mad, and boy can she look mad. The poor coach. He had his hands full with the rest of the team. The last thing he needed was an angry 4 year old who refused to play soccer. Luckily he did the right thing by just ignoring her. I stood on the sidelines and just watched my girl and laughed, because it certainly wasn't going to do any good to get angry at her. Plus, she is just so cute. She is especially happy that soccer is over and has announced that she likes doing ballet and tap much better than soccer. I guess we get to mark that sport off of our Kelsey list.

Dillon has been playing soccer for a couple of years and has been really lucky to be on a great team with a wonderful coach and with kids that he likes. It has been so fun to see him improve with each season. He has never been a great soccer player, but he is definitely not the worst. Of course none of that has mattered, we just want him to be out there having fun. Well, this season, the fun may have come to an end. He has decided that there is too much running in soccer. He told us that whenever he runs in soccer his legs get all sweaty and that they feel like they are broken. Apparently he needs a sport that doesn't involve a lot of running. Perhaps some martial arts may be more up his alley. I think we'll try it this winter. Here are some pictures of Dillon when he was playing goalie. He liked playing goalie because there wasn't any running. Plus, he was actually a pretty good little goalie and didn't let any balls get into the goal.
